Newberry, FL – Woman Killed, Three Hurt in Crash on CR-235 near 204th St

Newberry, FL (April 28, 2025) – A woman lost her life and three others were hurt in a collision near Newberry on Sunday, April 27. Reports from local police show the collision took place on County Road 235 near 204th Street. A passenger car and an SUV collided head-on. The vehicle, operated by a 35-year-old male, was traveling south on CR-235 around 6:00 p.m., just south of 204th Street, when the driver attempted to pass another car in a double no-passing zone. The car struck an SUV head-on, sending all vehicle occupants to local hospitals with critical injuries. The passenger riding in the front passenger seat of the SUV, a 61-year-old Crystal River woman, lost her life due to the extent of her injuries. The woman driving the SUV, age 42, along with a 14-year-old female passenger and the driver of the car, also sustained critical injuries in the crash. Police in Newberry continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
