Williston, FL - Woman Killed in Golf Cart Crash on 8th St near 3rd Ave

Williston, FL (June 6, 2025) — A tragic crash claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman from Trenton early Wednesday morning, June 4, after the golf cart she was operating was struck from behind.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on SE 8th Street, just south of SE 3rd Avenue. The woman was traveling southbound in a golf cart when a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old Trenton man struck the rear of the cart.

The impact caused the golf cart to overturn, ejecting the driver onto the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this time.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased victim.

Florida Traffic Accidents

Florida’s extensive road networks and bustling communities contribute to a high incidence of traffic accidents statewide, and golf cart-related fatalities have become a growing concern. According to recent Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles data, golf cart crashes have resulted in numerous fatal injuries across the state each year, underscoring the risks these vehicles face on busy roads and in neighborhoods.

Several key factors contribute to the rise in fatal golf cart accidents in Florida:

Lack of Visibility: Golf carts are smaller and less visible than standard vehicles, especially during nighttime or in poorly lit areas, increasing the likelihood of collisions with motor vehicles.

Mixed Traffic Environments: Many golf carts share the road with faster cars and trucks on public streets, creating dangerous situations where speed differences and inattentive driving lead to serious crashes.

Inexperienced Operators: Unlike regular vehicles, golf carts often lack licensing requirements for drivers, resulting in operators who may be unfamiliar with traffic laws or safe driving practices.

Road Conditions and Lighting: Narrow roads, insufficient lighting, and poorly marked golf cart crossings in residential and recreational areas add to the hazards these vehicles face.

If you or a loved one has tragically lost their life or suffered severe injuries in a golf cart accident in Florida, understanding your legal rights is crucial. The financial and emotional toll following such a loss can be overwhelming, from medical expenses and funeral costs to emotional distress and loss of income.
