When individuals see a motorist traveling the wrong way on the road, their first thought may be that the individual is a drunk driver.
Unfortunately, there are many cases in which these individuals may be right. Drunk driving is a serious issue that can quickly cause fatal accidents. In many such car accidents, innocent travelers are the ones left injured.
It was recently reported that a crash involving a drunk driver recently took place in Florida. Apparently, a 32-year-old man was driving his vehicle the wrong direction on State Road 417. As a result, his vehicle crashed into a car that was traveling north. The northbound car then hit another vehicle. The incident occurred just after 3 a.m.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was not injured in the incident. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old driver of the car that was hit suffered serious injuries and was transported to a medical center. He was considered to be in critical condition. The driver of the third vehicle involved suffered only minor injuries. Authorities took the wrong-way driver into custody on charges of DUI.
The driver who was seriously injured in this car accident may have valid cause for seeking compensation from the intoxicated driver considered at fault. In the pursuit of such compensation, the injured party may wish to look into his options for filing a personal injury claim. This type of civil claim could allow him to work toward gaining recompense for pain and suffering as well as monetary damages permitted under Florida law.
